DIY: TUTORIAL: Make Your Own Necklace Out Of Vintage Earrings, Old Brooches, Or Costume Jewelry

Make your own necklace by following the link below

Ever since I saw this post on making your own necklace with old brooches and earrings, I knew I had to do it. I think nothing is as timeless as pearls and old diamond vintage earrings. Even though the pieces are all new and they are all beads, I love the classic design and unique pieces. Wearing this necklace a little off of centered is my favorite way to show the angles and to make a statement.

Spring Preview: Vintage Diamonds and Turquoise

Coming Soon To Etsy Shop: Colorado Country Girl

This collection is inspired by vintage diamond pieces, pearls, turquoise and everything country. I love Romantic pieces, so my collection reflects that. I made only one piece per item for Etsy (because I fell in love and I have to keep one for me). Since these pieces are really unique and original it cannot be massed produced. Some of the beads were collected years ago with the hope of finding the right collection of items to come together at the right time to create a necklace. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them! Thank You For Loving Colorado Country!!!

DIY: Tutorial Creating a Leather Cuff Bracelet

Leather Bracelet Tutorial

You will need the following items, glue (super glue or gorilla glue, turquoise stone, clasp, diamond bead (optional), leather strip (I just cut mine with scissors into the desired size and shape), a leather whole puncture (available at any hardware store)

Puncture a whole in the leather after you have cut the leather to the desired cuff length and width. MAKE SURE YOUR HOLE IS NEAR THE FARTHEST EGE OF THE CUFF!!! My hole here is a bad example of what not to do because it is hard to add some chain. If you cut a hole like mine you will need a bigger chain to go around the leather.

When it is time to add the glue add just a small amount. This was too much glue and it fell out the sides and got onto the leather. USE A SMALL AMOUNT OF GLUE!

To add the chain you need a pair of plyers to open the chain up and to add a clasp at one end. I added a diamond rhinestone bead because I love the look of sparkle with leather and turquoise (I am just finishing up some new pieces for my Etsy shop Colorado Country Girl and it is all turquoise and sparkle pieces).

DIY: Tutorial Adding Length to a Skirt, Making Your Favorite Skirt Longer

DIY: Do It Yourself Tutorial: Adding Length to Your Favorite Skirt

Before                                      After

To begin you will need the following supplies

You need about an inch to an inch and a half of fabric, and almost two yards of lace trim. And a sewing machine. What I really wanted to do is add this lace in between the trim fabric but I decided this looked better!

Here is another variation with Two different lace trim and one fabric lace trim to add a different detail in the lace skirt

First your sew the trim on the underside of the lining of the skirt and then add the lace trim

DIY Tutorial: Silver Cuff Turquoise Pendant Bracelet

To make a cuff with a pendant you just need any cuff maybe you have on in a jewelry box, trendy stores like Charlotte Russe or jewelry stores found at the mall will do or you can purchase one on my eBay site for $6 and get a stone off eBay too.

The pendant can be turquoise but if you like coral or blue stones or even a diamond bead will look really pretty! I have one coming soon that I am working on and it has a jewelry pendant on a bracelet that looks like you found it off an earring from the 50's or you were searching in your grandmothers jewelry box.

Anyways, here is the tutorial to make your own beaded cuff:
All you need is a cuff, beaded stone that is large (or small if you like it small) and Gorilla Glue so you won't have any problems with loosing the heavy stone!
A little glue goes a long way, use just a tiny bit and not as much as I did because it is really hard to get the glue off the cuff once it dries.

DIY Tutprial: Altered Clothing Project: Upcycled Black and Olive Lace Dress with Sequin Ribbon and Black and Gold Trim Thread

This project is all about lace, ribbon, and sequin. Beauty is all in the detail. I took this lace dress and added sequin floral beaded detailing to the shoulders. The result was beautiful. Then I wrapped gold threaded black ribbon around the side of each strap to hide the ends.
Have you ever shopped at the store in the mall called Buckle? The items are a little more expensive than a trendy store like Forever 21 but the pieces are original and that is the look of this dress. At the clothing store buckle they have BKE Boutique and Gimmicks tags which mimic altered clothing with lace, beaded detailing and uniqueness. That is what this tutorial on a DIY Up cycled Dress is going to bring to you. An Original dress that makes people stop you on the street and say....."Where did you get that?"

Here is the origonal dress and the upcycled dress.....

Let's get started:

New Jewlery to my Etsy Shop

In the Past....

In the past I always blog about the cute pair of boots I found or a dress I liked. But I am planning on revamping that whole scene! I started an etsy account based on my jewelry making love which I have done since high school. My best friend in middle school showed me how she could make beaded flowers and I was hooked. By high school we were making hemp necklaces (really big in the 90's with the Nirvana and flannel shirt scene)! After inheriting a beading kit from one of my babysitting jobs and beading with my mom! (You would love her style!) I decided it is time to open an etsy shop. Which made me think, "Why stop at just jewelry? Why not clothing too?" Stay tuned for my jewelry, leather cuffs, and romantic prarie clothing with lace and beaded detail!
So it has been awhile! New baby and spending a lot of my time with the family!
